Your GREEN Realtor

Having lived by the ocean all my life, originally in Italy, and now here in the Monterey Bay, I’ve long felt a connection to the ocean and our natural environment as a whole. As I became a Realtor, I saw an opportunity to help my clients find homes that are not only beautiful, but sustainable. Becoming NAR GREEN Certified has given me the knowledge and resources to help my clients practice sustainable living in their homes.

A home doesn’t have to be built with all environmentally friendly materials for you to live in it more sustainably! Here are a few easy ways to lower your carbon footprint from home:

Increase Energy Efficiency

One of the easiest ways to make your house sustainable is by focusing on your home’s energy efficiency. If you’re building a new home or searching for one on the market, consider passive solar design, which uses building materials that naturally heat and cool your house by reflecting, absorbing, and transmitting the sun’s radiation.

Utilize New Window Technology

Or, if you’re looking for a quick home renovation to conserve energy, it may be worth investing in new high-performance windows. Did you know that windows are responsible for 50% of lost energy?

Update Appliances

Next, consider replacing your big appliances that use the most electricity like your dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, and air conditioner. These big appliances make up a significant portion of the overall energy homeowners consume!

If you’re interested in finding a new sustainable home or renovating your current house to save energy, let’s connect. I’d love to share what I have learned through the NAR GREEN Certification program.
